The Wild Bee Festival is an annual event coordinated by the National Biodiversity Data Centre, aiming to raise awareness of Ireland’s pollinators and how to help them in local communities.

Other Wild Bee Festivals
Following the success of the 2022 Wild Bee Festival in Skerries, and the 2023 Festival in Tralee, both have continued to run an annual festival and keep the buzz going.
If you are on the east coast, the Skerries Wild Bee Festival is taking place from Saturday 13th – Sunday 14th June, and the Kerry Wild Bee Festival on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July. Both festivals have a fantastic range of talks, walks, and workshops for pollinator enthusiasts of all ages and all levels of expertise.
Skerries Wild Bee Festival
13th – 14th June
The much-loved Skerries Wild Bee Festival returns for its 5th year at Skerries Mills. This year’s festival includes a fantastic line-up of speakers, guided walks and hands-on activities, with something for everyone from curious beginners and families to gardeners, nature lovers and pollinator enthusiasts.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy sessions including Naomi Lavelle’s Family Pollinator Science Workshop, Sarah Larragy on RestPoll and the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan, Brian Seales’ Plant Walk in Skerries Mills Wildflower Meadow, Kate Harrington’s Basic Bumblebee Identification Workshop, Charlie Heasman’s talk on the weird and wonderful interactions of plants and pollinators, and a Birdwatch Ireland Bird Walk with Cathal Copeland.
There will also be face painting, arts and crafts stalls, storytelling and family-friendly activities.

Kerry Wild Bee Festival
4th – 5th July
The Kerry Wild Bee Festival is being organised by Transition Kerry in collaboration with the Tralee Bay Wetlands Ecology Park and the Irish Wildlife Trust. The main festival will feature a series of walks and talks led by biodiversity experts and community groups on these important insects and the simple actions we can take to help them.
