The Farmland Pollinator Tool is an evidence based scorecard which has been developed in collaboration with farmers. The tool provides farmers with a quick and easy way to determine through self-assessment just how pollinator-friendly their farmland and farming practices are

Find out how pollinator-friendly your farmland is by using the Farmland Pollinator Tool:

Interpreting your score

The Farmland Pollinator Tool produces an easy to interpret score from 0-100, simply the higher the score achieved the more pollinator-friendly that farmland is.

Evidence has shown that farms which score 50+ using the scorecard ‘support pollinators’, and provide pollinators with a variety of the resources they need to survive in an agricultural landscape, this is a good baseline target to set if you hope to protect pollinators on your farmland.

Those farms which score 70+ using the Farmland Pollinator Tool are ‘pollinator-friendly’, and provide pollinators with an abundance of food, shelter and safety needed to survive and thrive. Farmer who achieve a score of 70+ may be eligible for accreditation through the Pollinator Plan.

Protecting Farmland Pollinators EIP

The actions within the Farmland Pollinator Tool, were identified during the Protecting Farmland Pollinators EIP (2018-2023). The EIP project was co-ordinated by the NBDC, and saw a group of 40 farmers support the development of the Farmland Pollinator Tool. Participating farmers implemented and tested actions on their farms, providing an evidence base to determine how beneficial each action is for pollinators.
