Mayo conference: The Plight of Pollinators

On February 13th, a conference was held in Ballina, hosted by Mayo County Council, called ‘The Plight of Pollinators’. Project Officer Juanita Browne and four other speakers covered the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan; research on the effects of pesticides (Dr Dara Stanley, NUI Galway); Working with Community Groups on actions for Pollinators (Janice Fuller); the Magnificent Meadows Project (Conor McKinney, Ulster Wildlife) and Potential for Mayo, Peter Gill, Mayo Parks Superintendent. This conference was a huge success, with over 70 staff from the council attending the conference. An evening session was also planned to focus on individuals and local community groups.
