One third of our bee species are threatened with extinction from Ireland. This is because we have drastically reduced  the amount of food (flowers) and safe nesting sites in our landscapes. The All-Ireland Pollinator Plan is about all of us, from farmers to local authorities, to schools, gardeners and businesses, coming together to try to create an Ireland where pollinators can survive and thrive.

The beauty of the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan is that it’s about all of us playing our part to help pollinators. There are lots of pollinator-friendly actions to choose from – whether you want to plant some pollinator-friendly flowers, create awareness through a local project, or perhaps you would like to take part in one of the monitoring schemes coordinated by the National Biodiversity Data Centre to help monitor the state of our bees or butterflies.

To support the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan we have published two accompanying series of documents: Guidelines for different sectors and How-to-Guides for key pollinator-friendly actions.

If you work for a Council, see our ‘Councils’ section on our home page, www.pollinators.ie/councils. This is where you’ll find our ‘Councils: Actions to help pollinators’ guidelines for details of all the ways you can help.

If you are a member of a TidyTowns or Ulster in Bloom or Residents’ Association, please see our Local Communities guidelines.

If you are a school teacher, we’d like to direct you towards our Junior version of the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan, and our How-to-guide for Creating a Pollinator Plan for your school. These and more resources are available in the Schools section of the website.

All of our guidelines documents and How-to-guides are free to download on the Resources section of our site.
