National Syrphid database

The National Syrphid database is held by the National Biodiversity Data Centre and is available to view through Biodiversity Maps.

The major contributors of data are:

  • Martin C.D. Speight: personal record cards & malaise trap data (various sources)
  • Tom Gittings: personal records as well as data collected under the following projects:

BIOFOREST: funded by COFORD and the Environmental Protection Agency under the National Development Plan.

BioChange: part of the Environmental Research Technological Development and Innovation Programme 2000-2006, funded by the Environmental Protection Agency under the National Development Plan.

BIOPLAN: part of the PLANFORBIO research programme, and was funded by COFORD under the National Development Plan.

You can submit syrphid records online. All records will be validated before being added to the National database.
